Data Galaxies
Data Galaxies allow you to describe and execute manipulations with your data. Each data galaxy, in
essence, is a graph, where:
- main vertices (stars) correspond to data sources
- additional vertices (planets) correspond to visualizations around the given data (star)
- edges correspond to data transformations taking data from one or more source stars and resulting
in a new star; we call such transformations stellar winds
- there can be certain filters that can influence certain visualizations (planets) and transformations
(stellar winds).
Features
- the out-of-box Data Galaxy tool already contains several galaxy components (stellar winds, stars,
planets, filters) that you can start to use;
- two modes are supported: the designer's mode to create and test galaxies and the end user's mode
to use existing galaxies;
- you may add new galaxy components (programmer's skill are required);
- the Data Galaxy tool can be launched as a desktop app or a web-based app (thus, you can use
galaxies in your intranet);
- free for non-commercial use.
